A Dream Come True

The employment letter was being read on television. There was one special news that Jolene jumped up and ran into the kitchen. To tell her mom

“Mom, Mom, I want to work on television,” Jolene said.

“What work?” Mom asked.

“I want to read the news bulletin on television and work as an announcer,” Jolene said

“But before that, you need Dad’s permission to work on television, you know?” Mom replied

“When Dad comes home from work in the evening, tell him about it, and I’ll take care of everything,” Mom said.

Jolene was praying till evening that she should get permission once Dad comes.

Dad came, took a bath and had tea. Jolene started begging her Mom to take out her television topic.

Meanwhile, Jolene’s younger brother, Joylan who had gone to college arrived.

Mom started the topic, “Hey, do you hear what I was saying?

Dad said, “I didn’t hear what you were saying? Tell me clearly and I will understand. Don’t go round and round like Jilebi.

“Since Jolene has completed her graduation. She wants to work,Mom said nervously.

“Okay that’s good. If she wants to stand on her own feet then I have no problem. By the way, what is she thinking to do.” Dad asked

Jolene got up and approached Dad

She said ,”Today, In the letter of employment on television, it contained a television advertisement that there is a walk-in interview on television tomorrow at 3 p.m. They want news bulletin readers and announcers. Tomorrow is the screen test and the sound test.”

“But no one in our family did acting, not even drama. Everyone has chosen a teaching profession, why don’t you continue your studies? Teaching is a respected profession and respect from children is invaluable.”Dad replied.

Now her younger brother, who was only listening till now spoke in the middle.” If she thinks she is beautiful and smart then her selection will definitely happen, otherwise she will return. So, Dad, you don’t oppose, let her go and try her luck.” and Dad gave permission by nodding his head.

She didn’t sleep that night, thoughts were running in her mind, If I’m selected, my name will be everywhere, people will watch me on television and so on.

Next day when she entered the Television Center. All girls were given a paragraph to recite, in front of the camera. Most of the girls participating in the interview were experienced. Jolene gave a screen test and a sound test and returned home.

About two weeks later, the postman came to her house in the afternoon and left with a yellow envelope. It read, “On Government Duty”, She was shocked when she opened the envelope and saw that, It was her joining letter on television.

  1. Dream comes true . It appears to be a true story . Very very true . But It happens rarely in day-to-day life , Madam ! Especially in the practical life . You go for an interview and immediately , in a week or so , you get job . But if your story says so. Then it would be true . Even though your father was also right. Yet by dint of your talent you got success in molding your father’s mind , then it is believed that you might have got success in folding the mind of the television interviewers . This is called talent . And talent ultimately works . Thanks . Please read my blogs also .
