Leech # Flash Fiction

The water was released from the small masonry dam to the field to grow vegetables

Once the lake dries up, people flock to catch fish. I also went to catch fish and set my foot in the mud and got stuck there.

The more I tried, the more I got stuck in the mud. Suddenly, I saw something on my leg and thought it was a baby snake and screamed.

My limbs began to tremble with fear. I felt dizzy and fell in the mud.

Friends carried me and pulled out the leech which I thought was a snake.

🤣🤣 interesting experience. What a way to be introduced to a leech LOL

People going to the lake to catch fish when it dries up is intriguing; I haven’t really experienced circumstances like this firsthand. I only know about catching fish the traditional way but learning about this was very cool 👍😂

      1. You are every welcome and I appreciate your insight 💙💙👍😂. I agree wholeheartedly, fish can be very tasty and I have no doubt that fresh water fish is incredible to the palates especially when it’s curried and flavored and complimented with some great rice hahaha

  4. that leach did indeed look like a snake and I would have screamed, too! Back home in Maine we have something like that called Blood Suckers and when they get on you they are hard to get off. They are dark on their backs and have red bellies. We always screamed, too1
