The two lovers
used to love
each other
very much.
They believed,
their love
was as delicate
and beautiful
as a peacock’s feather.
Both of them
used to swear
in the moonlight
and chat about love.
One day
a strange situation arose.
The girl died
in an accident.
The boy
was transformed
into a chain smoker
and an alcoholic.
He lost
the will to live.
In her memory,
he wandered far
and wide alone,
and died a few days later.
His only last wish
was that
‘his body be buried next to her’.
Sudden
event changed life
heart overtook the mind
the mind turned to a transition
with love

some happy moments clicked
in a place of rest

A beautiful and poignant poem Jane. Much like the classic love stories of old. One dies and the other cannot survive the sorrow. Thanks for joining in

That poetic story is true. This happened to our school bus driver’s son. He also died after she died.

This is a true story, even after two years it has not crossed my mind. When Sadje gave prompt, I remembered this incident and wrote it down. I don’t know if this has become a dark tragedy. He was our Ex- student., David! 😓

Beautifully written. In some cultures here in Australia the Peacock feather is a symbol of death.
