Verdant Prosperity #haiku #tanka

Fresh vegetation
that’s unsophisticated
verdant naive life

A form of beryl
crystallizes in a mass
prismatic crystals
mislabeled as emerald
it’s a stone named smaragdus

I have presented two forms: haiku and tanka. The words Verdant and Emerald represent colour.

  1. Jane, these verses are brilliant! I love how you describe wild vegetation as “unsophisticated” and “naive.” It evokes so much personality. And I have to admit I would love to have a handful of those green stones! 😀 Wonderful poetry from a wonderful person. Well done! 🙂
