All airline pilots have had extensive training and flying experience so I had my training and flew for the first time in a private aircraft from Delhi to Mumbai.
Delhi was smoggy. Clouds seemed like smog mountains. So I tried to contact airport authorities about my flight and compass but I couldn’t contact them.
As I was in trouble, my brain stopped working. I had lost my way in smog but had a strong desire to meet my husband and family. That’s why I cancelled my flight and flew back to Delhi. It was a horrific and scary experience.
I was invited for the Film Festival and my film “Bejababdar” was selected. It was a superhit regional short film. I did not have the confidence to communicate in English so I sat in one corner.
Suddenly, the anchor mentioned the names of Best Films and Best Actresses. He called the film “Bejababdar” ” irresponsible” and my name “Garland of Diamonds” instead of “Ratnamala”.
He spoke in English so even though my film and I were selected, I remained silent and seated. When everyone looked at me and began clapping, I realized that my selection was due to my “irresponsibility”.
“Boo …. boo, today I saw a weird funeral,” said Rose.
“Strange! You don’t know what a funeral is. Have you not been to anyone’s funeral ever? Isn’t anyone dead in your house? Johnny asked Rose
“No, how can I tell you now?” Said Rose
“Now, tell me in a simple and straightforward language, “said Johnny
“Look, when we die ,the mass is offered to our souls and bodies are burried, but what I saw today was a funeral and the man had come to the cemetery with his foot. He brought his foot with ten to twelve people and buried it in the cemetery.” Rose told to Johnny
“Wasn’t this your latest dream today?” questioned Johnny
“No, not a dream, I saw it.” said Rose.
Johnny said ironically,” and the Priest would have offered Mass.”
“No, boo … I dream but it was a reality. ” Rose said
“OK, now tell me in which cemetery you see and why did you go there?” Johnny asked Rose
“There is a church right in front of our school and there is a cemetery on the right side and that cemetery is visible from our staff room. I was looking out of the window during the free period and suddenly, these ten-twelve people came with a very small coffin. When I saw that coffin, I thought it must have been a little child, and I called our peon, Philip and asked him,”did someone’s child die today?”
He smiled ironically and said, “This is the work of a rich man, Fidalgo. Fidalgo’s leg was amputated for some reason ….The funeral of his own foot is going on .”
“I was shocked to hear about the funeral of our body parts.” Rose told Johnny.
Then the peon jokingly added, “Teacher, we see headless ghosts in the movie, walking on the wall, facing differently, blooded and so on. Now we will see only the foot and not the ghost.”
I said, “Philip, his soul is alive, not dead, only his leg is dead, so how can that be a ghost?” and I imagined ghosts, only walking on foot. Thoughts began to come to my mind ,” Do Ibelieve in ghosts?”
The wife of a rich man dies suddenly. Relatives remarry him as he has a young son. His son’s name is Richard.
For a year or two, his second wife takes good care of her husband and her stepson Richard and wins their heart but when her own child Bunty is born, she shows her true colours.
The father dies with this grief.
She is a dirty and filthy woman. She treats Richard like a servant and even stops his schooling. Richard wants to learn and become a big man but she beats him brutally and holds him in her fist. His father tries to save him but can’t help as his wife has taken control of everything.
She controls Richard in everything. He is so influenced by her that he becomes a stoic.
She and her son Bunty sit at the dining table to have food and Richard is asked to sit on the floor and have the leftovers.
Richard works day and night in his own field with his servants as he has a habit of enduring everything with silence.
One day an accident occurred on the highway while he was working in the field, so all the vehicles had to divert from the main road and go over the field embankment.
A rich girl’s car gets stuck in the mud. She screams for help, Richard rushes to her aid and with the help of other servants pulls her car out of the mud. This rich girl begins to see him as a stuntman.
Gradually she develops interest in him and comes to the field to meet him. She learns from other servants that his stepmother is harassing him. She tells Richard that she’s not a rich girl but the daughter of a driver who drives a car of a rich man.
Further she makes a plan by meeting other honest servants who help her in her plan and as per their plan a farmer takes the girl to Richard’s house and tells his stepmother that, if she accepts his daughter as her daughter- in-law then he will give her 1000 square meters of farmland.
This greedy woman with the hope of getting 1000 square meters of land got her married to Richard.
After getting married, Richard goes to the farm as usual. At home Richard’s stepmother tells the housemaid not to come for work as she wants Richard’s wife to do all the house chores.
As Richard’s wife knows everything about her mother-in-law she doesn’t obey her orders instead she beats her with the same belt which she used to beat Richard. Her addicted son , Bunty too gets beaten when he comes to help his mother.
When Richard comes home to have lunch he is surprised to see everything has changed in his house.
The relationship between the stepmother and her son Bunty was split. Seeing this strange change, Richard starts thinking how all things have changed in his house in a day.
